Biography
Geoff was born in Liverpool at a very early age and brought up in the leafy suburbs south of the City around Woolton and Allerton surrounded by Parks and Golf courses.
When the Shadows came on the scene Geoff was hooked and made his first electric guitar in school. Worked too and looked great.
By 1962 working in the city, Geoff became part of the group 'The Leemen', playing various venues including The Cavern during the same period as the Beatles. A brick situated just above the now 'Cavern Pub' doorway in Mathew Street with 'The Leemen' stamped into it, is a testimony to those heady days. In fact, Geoff lived a few doors away from John Lennon and owing to the similarity of house number, received regular fan mail in error, addressed to John. This resulted in regular visits to the house to deliver the mail and for a brew in the kitchen with Johns' Aunty Mimi.
Eventually moving to North Wales he gained experience in a variety of occupations over the coming years and the picture gallery shows just some of his experiences and interests, some of which required ability and confidence in speaking to large groups of people. More so after creating his own business running a Tropical Butterfly display for 20 years, when regular requests were made for illustrated talks on the subject, plus radio and television interviews and programme participation. His current interest (last 20 years), is crewing a main line express passenger steam locomotive on the national network. Hard dirty work, but what a buzz!
An old show business acquaintance suggested to Geoff some 30 years ago that he should use his distinctive and soft voice for radio and television. However, life was too hectic in other areas at the time and was not pursued.
Now though, he uses his voice where required, especially narration, in which his greatest pleasure is to narrate for nature, wildlife, and history programmes.
Geoff is currently working on the production of a variety of CD's with his colleague from Taliesin Sound, using a wide range of script material and sound effects from their massive library. The effects are sold in various formats to schools, drama groups, theatre and wherever sound effects are required.
Involvement with museums will continue, where narration is required plus point of display sound effects and equipment to enhance as a package.
So life is still quite hectic, but.. what the heck!
